Winter Concert, Moments of Reflection

Tuesday, February 16 – 7:30pm MOMENTS OF REFLECTION J. Brahms Symphony No. 1, is without doubt one of the best “first” symphonies ever written by a composer. It took him quite a bit of time to finish it due to his high respect and veneration for Beethoven. Brahms thought no one could write a great symphony after the Master, but he certainly did. Beautiful tunes with moments of excitement and reflection are the characteristic of this magical music. The concert begins with music from an early opera by Wagner, a piece of great Italian influence and character. Finally, a unique and exotic piece written by the Israeli/American composer Tamar Muskal completes the program with two fabulous soloists, Carrie Koffman, saxophone and Timothy Deighton, viola.

  • Richard Wagner Overture to Rienzi
  • Tamar Muskal Concerto for Saxophone and Viola Carrie Koffman and Timothy Deighton, guest soloists
  • Johannes Brahms Symphony No. 1
